APPROACH

My goal is to create warm, responsive, and practical talk-therapy relationships with patients. I use psychodynamic theory—the close examination of patterns and behaviors with an intent to gain insight into self, alleviate distress, and help people lead more meaningful lives. At times I incorporate elements of more skill-based techniques such as mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy. I prescribe medications on a thoughtful, case-by-case basis, with the goal of treating symptoms while minimizing side effects.

SPECIALTIES

I have experience working with older adolescents and adults. I focus on anxiety, depression, substance abuse, life transitions, relationship struggles, and work-related issues. My practice is primarily focused on talk therapy but, under the right circumstances, I am also able to provide medication-only services.

ABOUT ME

As a physician, I specialize in psychiatry because I believe the connection between mental and physical health is profound. I am experienced in both pharmacology and psychotherapy—a combination that allows me to approach patients from multiple angles. I believe that active listening in therapy can be very healing; through understanding my patients and their perspectives I am able to help them negotiate their lives to find greater contentment.
